American Board of Emergency Medicine Initial Certification
ABEM initial certification follows Emergency Medicine residency and includes the Qualifying Examination (QE) and Certifying Exam (CE). The QE is approximately 305 single-best-answer questions based on the EM Model; since 2026, the CE has been an in-person, 10-case, half-day examination in Raleigh. This guide covers initial certification, not continuing certification.
